No, I didn't get to go to a beach party (unfortunately) =[
As part of my Beauty Therapy course at college I have to do makeup (which I adore. It was and still is my main reason for doing the course, and my planned progression route from this course).
Well today we were given a choice of 3 themes to create a makeup look for:
- Job interview
- Beach party
-Graduation/prom
I chose to make a beach party makeup. Now, this was incredibly awkward as a look I was particularly thinking of doing required more colours than our makeup kits contain (they have little in the way of colourful eye shadows, more favouring neutral tones. And, since we aren’t allowed to use our own makeup, I was limited to these neutral tones.)
In the end I chose this fairly bright rust coloured eye shadow, and went for a bright lippy as well (very lucky that there was a range of vivid lip colours. Although on the negative side, there are little in the manner of neutrals. They really need to sort a mid-ground with the items in our kit).
And this is the result of the makeup:
WHAT I USED:
Foundation (medium), bronzer, green correcter cream, pale concealer cream, rust-coloured eyeshadow, cream-coloured eyeshadow, sheer pink lipstick, black eyeliner, brunette eyebrow pencil. All from my S-Colour Cosmetic Kit.
As you can see, my model was wearing some large false eyelashes, which were nice, but really interfered with my makeup, as she wouldn’t allow me to touch them, and when doing eye shadows some of the colour fell onto the tops of the lashes which was awkward to rectify.
But at the end of the day, in a makeup world, you’re always going to find yourself working your way around an aspect like the false lashes. And they do really suit the makeup!
I think at some point, I may try this look again, only outside of the college so that I can use whichever items of makeup I want.
(NOTE: No, I didn't make her look paler than she was. That was just the lighting being unwilling to co-operate!)

Introduction

Hello, my name’s Bekki and this is my first ever blog post.
I’m an 18 year old Beauty Therapy student from Surrey. I’m hoping to study Theatrical Makeup next year, and acting in the future.
I also take photographs. A bit of an amateur photographer be me (which you can check out if you want: My Site )
This blog shall predominantly be makeup based, but may end up containing all sorts of random bits and bobs. It depends what I feel like.
Since this is my first ever blog, feedback would be muchly appreciated and I am very thankful to everyone who reads it.
In regards to the name of my blog…well I honestly don’t know why I chose it. I like dragons and I couldn’t really just call my blog “Dragon”, so “The Ghost of Dragons Past” it is!
A bit more about me:
- I’ve been a fiery red head (dyed) for about 16 months now, which I love. Before I had this hair colour, I had a dark plum colour, and various dark red shades. I was naturally auburn. (I'm the pale red haired one in the photo above!)
- I like beautiful things. And considering I can see the beautiful in pretty much everything, I like most things (and people!)
- I am very typically English. You know the stereotype: a pot of tea with a slice of cake and triangular cucumber sandwiches at 4pm; every Sunday a roast dinner; a “posh” accent (not really, but when I do visit other places, they tend to comment on how “Southern” and “posh” I sound).
- I have a bit of a thing for red lips and smokey eyes.
- And that’s about it!
I look forward to posting things.
